It seems I have lost a little bit of water over the winter. I had the water about a quarter of the way up the skimmer opening and now it is near the bottom. I used the red ph Taylor 0004 testing liquid to look for a leak around the skimmer it looks like I found a small one near one of the screw holes. The screw is actually stripped so I cannot tighten it. I was thinking my options are this: 801 clear silicon over the screw openings and maybe around the outside of the skimmer for good measure then put the faceplate back on. Another option would be some flex seal tape around the skimmer over the screws then put the faceplate back on? Thought? Other options? 5 year old fiberglass pool.

I would use silicon over the leak area over Flex Seal.

One of the bottom screws is striped and turns endlessly. Small leak it appear in there.

The problem is that you need pressure from the outer most frame to compress the gasket against the fiberglass wall. without pressure hows that stopping the water from going around the frame. I'd say to get at the wall directly with the epoxy and fill the hole and then after it cures create a new hole via a drill so you won't crack the epoxy patch trying to self tap the screw back in.

what if I just seal around the outside of the skimmer and cover the screw heads that should do the trick also right. Would on screw really make that big a difference in pressure?
