Greetings TFP!

I hope this is a simple question for someone, 'cause it's not for me. Or maybe it is, and I'm just over thinkylizing it. I read pump basics and mas' thread on pool hydraulics, but got dizzy and fell down. So now I'm here. Anyway, is short, as stated in the subject, will a 3/4 HP pump (2 speed) be enough for a 13k pool?

This is what I'm looking at:

Pool details:
Pool is vinyl 15' x 30' oval. Depth is 3' to 6'.
13,000 gallons.
One skimmer. One drain. Two returns. That's it.
1.5" plumbing all around.
Central Florida.

Prior motors:
Newly dead motor was 1.25HP (1 speed). It lasted 11 years.
Prior motor was 1HP (1 speed), I think (see pic). It lasted 15 or 20 years.

Here are a few pics. They are:
01: current dead motor
02: current dead motor label (when it was new, and not dead)
03: original motor from 11 years ago
04: filter & pump setup
05: filter label

Thanks for any suggestions!

Wow, how did the first one ever survive or even work? As to your linked pump, you get what you pay for.

I know, right?! It looks like it's been chiseled from the rocks of an archeological dig! As for the a replacement pump, it only needs to last a few weeks, then I'm outta here! That is, I'm moving, and I don't think I'm gonna take the pool with me... :)

No. You get, at most, what you pay for.

Two quotes from the first page of that pump's manual:
  • "For the pumps to function correctly, the water temperature must not exceed 95°F."
  • "The pump must not be used when people are in the water."

@Self Evident, it would be kinder to leave the new owners with no pump at all.
