Around June 2020, I came to this site asking for advise on hot to build a pool myself. Like to many of us, @duralegih was an inspiration with his cinder block pool.
So here we go with some pictures --
Digging started Sept 21, 2020. Water went in April 8th 2021, the patio was completed about two months later -- building the pool was a second full time job and a little bit of an obsession, after all they took the dirt. So, change of heart and backfilling, was not really an option.
I hired two things -- digging the hole and pouring of the flooring (I wanted to do it in one pour) everything else, I did myself little by little. It is such a fun conversation piece...but I did get a lot of weird looks when I said that I was building it myself.
I likely overdid the amount of concrete, but better safe than sorry. I am pretty with the outcome, I will do a few things differently next time.
before everything started
hole
concrete base
many pallets of those cinder blocks and concrete bags I brought into the pool -- one by one
