Sorry! You're right, I owe a photo update :)

Bonus Dolphin shot included!

There are a few spots where the liner has been stained/lightened, primarily in the deep end and along the edges in spots. Guessing this was due to previous owner neglect and maybe the swamp debris sitting for over a year.

Was your motivation for this for looks/feel, trying to slow pH rise or both?
A little bit of both. Kids splashing around + waterfall + slide (I'm not a small dude, I make a big splash...) raise pH quite a bit. Hoping borates help!

The boss/wife told me I was wasting money on boric acid since it was already crystal clear, but then also said the water is so sparkly that it looks AI generated with the borates added... I'm calling that a win.

I will attribute that to the once a week shock syndrome of the pool stores. Owners at their mercy would just empty the 1 lb bags "oh just sprinkle it around edges in the deep" was always the instructions from the tech behind the counter. Yeh, that's why I find fading in the deep at the transition from the slope to the hopper and everywhere the granular can land undisturbed. It just sits there then and does the damage.
