Between a couple family events and a vacation, our pool is likely to go unused until mid-June in northern Illinois. Should I be opening it up normal time and maintaining, or just wait until I get back? I'm guessing opening and maintaining will be easier as the algae will probably bloom in an unopened pool as it warms up, but I don't actually know what I'm talking about so I thought I'd you ask you all. Thanks!

No doubt itll be better to open it as early as possible than fighting algae.

Depends if you want to open it now and put in a little effort every few days maintaining the pool or save your energy and put in a lot of effort and expense in June fixing any problems.

I like to open my pool early so I can see and fix any problems that come up. Otherwise you can spend June and maybe July getting the pool swimable.
