I'm working on replacing the temp sensor on my heater/chiller. It's an aquacal super quiet 156, and the temp reading is way off so assuming the sensor is bad.

I think I'm looking at the correct location for where this should be. There's a plug with a wire going into the pvc as soon as water enters the heater. The wires go to the board and that location is labeled "ws" (water sensor?).

The part I was sold to replace this thing doesn't look like what's already there though. Did I get the wrong part or do I need to modify something to make this work?

I attached some files of what I'm dealing with. The black wire is the new one. Grey is existing. That grey wire goes through a plug and into the pvc right at the heater inlet.

Any suggestions?

Someone sold you the wrong part.

Have you called Aquacal Customer Support?

I called them a while back and was pointed to this sensor.

I have a second water temp sensor that my controller uses to display pool temp. It's also a 2 wire design.

Think I could splice into that and use that signal from the other temp probe?

I am ready to install the ECS0275 replacement temp sensor. It looks a straightforward job. I'm certain that the sensor to the pipe in this photo is the one that needs replaced. Can you confirm? Thanks.

That is the correct pipe where you need to place the new sensor. You will leave the original in place & tap a hole above or below the coupling.

I have the aqua cal t115 as well and the picture matches my temp sensors. My temp reading has been off the whole summer by10+ degrees. Today it shutdown with the overheat error. Assuming the temp sensor is shot. Question I have is you mention drilling a new whole for this sensor. Are there specific instructions (drill bit size) with this purchase. Or do I have to take a guess and hope I get it correct? Any help appreciated.

Use 11/32″ or 3/8″ drill bit to tap into water inlet line.

Just wanted to say thanks for this. This fixed my heater problem and I'm back to having the correct temp.
