My Dolphin is dead…

My 3ish year old S300i is not working. It moves as expected during the self test then does nothing. I have opened it up and there is no water in the motor compartment and the power supply is putting out 29.4 volts. I’m guessing the motor is dead but realistically most of the brushes and things need to be replaced so might as well get a new one.

What are the favorites out in the market today? I would rather not spend the money to go top of the line if these are going to die every 3 or so years.

I’m actually considering going back to the old Polaris 280 pressure side cleaner.

I just purchased an Evo 604 to replace my Escape that died the exact same way yours did (because basically, its the same robot inside)
I didn't need all the bells and whistles, and it seems like Dolphin's '40 years of expertise' doesn't result in any more longevity...which makes sense if you sell robots...

Give them a call at Marina Pool and Spa - they'll help figure out the best option for you. Not sure you can count on any of them lasting more than 4-5 years tho - built in obsolescence seems to be the new norm for any of the robotic offerings.

K,

See this review..

On your S300, did you look under the impeller to make sure nothing was wrapped around the shaft??? You have to take the impeller off.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I did remove the impeller shaft was the first thing I checked since it passed the motion tests.

After having the EVO for almost a year now how would you compare it to your old Dolphin?

K,

I love it more each day...

That said, I loved my Dolphins right up to when they died...

If I had to buy another robot today, it would be the EVO.

Still way too early to know if it will also have a limited lifespan.. :(

Thanks,

Jim R.
