I plan to replace my own cover as well. How did you factor in the measurement of the size of the cover to relay that to APC parts. Do you order the exact size you want or do you give them the size of the pool and they add in extra for slack and what rolls onto the drum. Any tips on the order process will be helpful.

Call the supplier and ask them what dimensions they want. Generally you tell them the pool dimensions and they figure out how much excess to add in both dimensions. But don't guess. Ask them.
When you give them the actual dimensions they will add on the adittional length and width for you system. Be sure to double check it !!
You need the spacing of the tracks and the depth to the water from the tracks.
