Hi any first post and first pool took some years to get a home with a pool, one of of the things which has been brought up is the pool heater isn’t working and the breaker is off, my question for you all.

1. Is there a correct start up after it’s been off for some time.
2. Things to check before turning on
3. Cleaning ? What do I clean and with what
4. It’s missing the front dial how do you operate ?

Welcome to TFP.

A heat pump is a reverse air conditioner. Do the same things you do in chrcking out, cleaning, and turning on your AC system.

Post a picture of the model number.

And show us where the dial is missing.
 
Made in November of 2004, so it is about 19 years old.

If the breaker is off, then there is probably something wrong with it.

I would recommend that you get a local HVAC company out to check it out before trying to operate it.

It is probably going to be in bad shape and it probably will not work and it probably will not be worth fixing if the cost is anything significant.
