Repair or replace master pools in floor cleaner

Hi all, I have a master pools 5 port in floor cleaning system that will not advance from station to station. This is run by my only pool pump (vs) & is after the filter. It is also my only source of water returns into the pool, though I have 1 return into a spa that can spillover into the pool (note: I have issues with high ph). when it was working I was happy with its effects but since it stopped advancing keeping the pool clean has been troublesome, I also use a dolphin nautilus robot. I’ve tested all the pop up’s by manually rotating the gears to each station & they all seem to work fine. Each port runs 2 pop up’s except one that runs 1 popup & 3 in wall eyeballs.

I’m pretty sure I should be keeping the in floor system operational but am open to arguments to the contrary. If I keep it, is it better in the long run to replace the innards @ $278 or to replace the port with something else? I’m looking at the blue square r360 which Is $414 plus the work to cut out the old port & glue in the new one. To replace the innards of the blue square is quite a bit less at $150 for complete kit or $78 for just the gears. So it seems like the blue square will save me money in the long run. but if I’m going through the trouble & expense I want the best results I can hope for so.

Which will work better?
which will operate at a lower flow rate. Or are they the same?
which will last longer between replacement?
are there other ports I should consider above these two?

& lastly if I eliminate the system by just removing the guts & letting water flow through all 5 pipes simultaneously do I replace my pop up’s with some type of cover that lets water through?

thanks for all your help. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

How long do you intend to keep the house?
If long term, the Blue Square may be a good option. I'd recommend calling them directly with questions/concerns.

Ask them if the Q360 or R360 would be better for your setup - and why they recommend one over the other.

Most likely the flow rate will be the same - as your IFCS plumbing pipes and heads will remain the same.
You can also look at the A&A (Pentair now) water valves.
I don't believe there are covers to replace the popups with.

Running all 5 ports are one time probably won't provide good circulation. But you can pull the guts out of the water valve and try it.

With a VS pump, only run at higher speed to effectively clean the pool floor. Run at a lower speed to satisfy your SWG flow switch, etc.

thanks. I plan on Staying here long term, so I’ll probably change out the valve box. I pulled the gear mechanism out of the master pools box for a closer inspection & the gears that are not clipped into place look like they are designed to fail. The inner 9t sprockets get the corners ground off & because they are not secured so all the force gets applied to the corners of really thin gear teeth. Also the impeller on the blue square seems more robust & should bet better engagement from the water flow. Thanks I’ll call blue square & hope that system holds up better
