New California resident and pool owner here. Newly relocated from Virginia to California and now am the proud owner of a small, but very nice, in-ground pool and spa combo. Rough calculations put it about 12-15,000 gallons. Built about 1998 with all original Sta-Rite equipment, still chugging along. Hoping to relieve my pool service guy soon, and improve my water chemistry and bank account. Looking forward to learning a lot from the knowledge base here. Just ordered my TF-Pro test kit to get me going. Previously owned a hot tub for the past 7 years and performed all my own maintenance, so not a complete Noob to water chemistry.

Welcome to TFP!

Nice job, adding an equipment signature in your first post. To get even more precise assistance, narrow down your location to a closer delineation. Weather could be quite different depending upon where in SoCal you’re at. San Diego is different than L.A. and the inland empire is different than either of those locations.

Thanks! You are so correct about the differing weather conditions. Location updated.
