I’m not sure if this is the correct place. Moderators please move if it’s not. going to post my latest test results but I have two separate stains I would like advice on.

FC 4.
CC 0
PH 7.4
alkalinity 70
CH 180
CyA 30

The water is crystal clear. My problem is I have two different types and colors of stains.
1st one is reddish brown and is spreading to other parts of pool. I did the vitamin C test and it did not respond at all.
2nd spots were more black in nature and when I did the vitamin C test, they cleared right up. I also have a sort of brownish looking ring around the pool line. When I take crushed up vitamin C’s and rub it, it comes right off.

so I’m thinking for the second spots. I’m gonna do the AAA treatment. My question is what advice can you give me on the other spots that seem to be rapidly expanding. I can send you a picture of a couple of them if it would help.
thanks in advance. I don’t use well water and have never had problems with copper or iron in my pool. The yard guy did fertilize about two months ago so there could be some fertilizer that got in the pool. I’ll

Well you have problems with iron in your pool now.

And the other stains may be copper.

Use Jack's Stain ID kit.

Ouch . That’s what I thought you might say. I’ll get a test kit ordered. is there any negative affect of waiting Till the end of pool season? I’m just worried about bringing my chlorine level down and getting an algae bloom.
The stains are just stains.

Do you have a heater?

Any idea how you are getting iron and maybe copper in your water?

Take your pool water to a pool store and have them test it for iron and copper. Don't act on any of their suggestions. Thank them and tell them you want to think about what you will do.

Forgot my other question. Should I go ahead and do AA first since the vitamin C worked on those or get the kit and tackle both issues at same time.

Figure out if you also have a copper problem. Treating copper in your pool will require a draining of your water.

Once you lift iron from the pool surfaces you either have to drain the water and fill with iron free water or use sequestrants to keep the iron in suspension.

So you want to deal with a drain and fresh fill once if it becomes necessary.

No idea how. I don’t have a heater. I never put anything in my pool, except for baking soda, liquid chlorine, acid , cya. I’m not sure if this is the case. But last winter a rusted tomato stake was in the pool and when I got it out I saw a small stain.
