I replaced my standard bulb with a color changing LED one from Amazon years ago. I have the standard light niche that everyone has (Pentair/Amerlite) and I used a new seal. No problem until about a week ago. The light turns on for maybe 10-15 seconds then the GFCI trips. I do have a TV plugged into this circuit too and it does not trip the GFCI. Does anyone have any idea as far as troubleshooting besides replacing the light and seal? Try a new GFCI?? I've seen GCFIs fail and trip over the slightest thing before, but I dont think LEDs draw a lot of power, especially compared to the TV that doesn't trip it.

Start by replacing the GFCI outlet. They go bad over time. I need to replace GFCI outlets outdoors every few years. Use one that is marked WR and is Weather Resistent.

If it still trips with a new outlet then you got moisture in the light.

Thanks. The GFCI outlet seems dry to me but I'll start with that. Really hoping I dont have to open this light enclosure again.

I replaced the GFCI with one marked WR, and it still blew when I turned the light on, although it took a lot longer this time. Guess I need to open the light. Any recommendations?

See what you find when you open the light.

I took the light out of the enclosure to look but did not open it since I don’t have a gasket. I couldn’t see any water in there, so I’m hoping the cheap Amazon light went out on me.
