How are multiple return lines ran?

Completely new to the pool world. Our pool builder has 2 returns in the proposal but will be asking for another 2-4 to be added. Are returns generally split once a main return line is ran from the pump/filter back to the pool? I’m just having trouble visualizing how several returns are plumbed. Also, are all wall returns generally preferred over any floor returns today? Thanks all!

809,

The best option is for the main return line to go around the pool in a closed loop, and then individual return line are plumbed from the loop into the pool.

Doing the loop means that all the returns have about the same pressure. Otherwise the returns on the far side of the pool will be much weaker than the returns on the near side of the pool.

You need 4 returns with one return on each "wall" of the pool.

Thanks,

Jim R.

this is not my thread, so I am sorry to butt in, but I have a question...... what do you mean by loop around the and then the individual from it????? I though the best way was to send individual lines for each return from the equipment pad???? (I just spend 2 night re-plumbing my 5 return lines  ...)
