I have been loosing a ton of water from my pool , between investigating the leak and speaking to the PO of the house I narrowed it down to the skimmer gaskets / liner in the area of that to be the problem.

I am ordering the gaskets from inyopool

I plan to drain slightly below and disassemble change gaskets re assemble but does anyone have photos , or instructions on the order of everything and also should I be using silicone and or pool Puddy as well ? Never did this before and it’s my first pool plus I have a broken foot so that is really limiting my mobility during this repair

First off, Your pool won’t collapse!
Breathe 🧘‍♂️
You need the correct skimmer gaskets & a piece of vinyl larger than the piece that’s currently there if you suspect the old patch is leaking. You want the new patch to completely cover the old one with some room all the way around.
You want the boxer adhesive.
There are a couple types of skimmer gaskets so post the one that’s for your skimmer & we can explain how it goes.
You will need to lower the water a little more to accomplish your tasks (1-2 inches below the skimmer)

That is the gasket for my skimmer according to owners manual and inyopools.

How much adhesive will I need ? And also should I purchase a repair kit that comes with vinyl ? Or how else do I get a piece of liner ?

Should I get a new faceplate as well? Or not necessary ? What about new screws ?

Last question : do I remove the current patch that’s on there or do I just apply over it ?

Can this be done over a multiple day period of time ? Is it safe for the pool to sit 1-2 inches below the skimmer ? For a few days ?

Also this company fair oaks makes a in ground pool skimmer repair kit essentially looks like metal plate to go behind . But I don’t know if anything is rotted under there yet

👍🏻You need two of those gaskets- one goes between the liner & wall then one between the faceplate & liner.

One tube should do it - you may need to contact a pool place for a piece of liner large enough

Probably not necessary unless it’s cracked, if the screws are rusted you’ll wanna go ahead & replace them.

I would not attempt to remove it- just patch completely over it creating a new seal between the new patch & the original pool liner.

That should be ok, this will also confirm that the suspected area is the cause of your water loss.

To use that you would need to remove the liner from the track & it will be a bit more of a project so hopefully that’s not an issue & it won’t be necessary.

Should I cover the entire thing with 1 solid piece (like blocking the opening and then trim out the inside ?

what are the chances of a pool store giving me a small piece of vinyl liner lol I feel like the patch kit isn't going to be nearly as big as needed
All you can do is ask. The worst thing that can happen is they say no.
I would call around to the ones that install pools.

Lol gonna be sending my wife in on this since I can’t drive / am on crutches . Gonna start with my neighbors first and then try pool stores if no one has it

Neighbors save my Rear again . One of them has a whole liner I can cut pieces out of
