I got a new Intex SX 1500 Sand pump filter to replace the, um, not so lovely little cartridge filter I had before. I am using this on a ~2500 Gallon above ground pool.
Following the instructions to set it up was simple enough, and I dug out dirt then leveled with sand and gravel and have the filter on a nice paver.
Well, this thing shoots water out EVEYRWHERE when I run it. Just opening up the valves to it from the pool but not turning on the filter, it leaks water out of the sand filter bin steadily. I do have the sand bin screwing clamp lid closed with what seems to be the appropriate tightness, and the sand is only up to about the middle of the indicator.

Steady water dripping even with a very tightened clamp
If I turn it on with the valves open, then water begins streaming everywhere. It's almost comical.

Watering the grass and yard by turning the pump on.

Anyone have any tips for me? I feel like I should add some caulk or silicone to the drum as my next step, lol.
