Starting a thread for my pool as I start to open it for this year. I’m December my pump froze and busted so the pool drained down to the return line and it’s been sitting without being touched for several months while we saved up for a new pump + fixing the electrical lines to the pool which stopped working.

I didn’t take a before picture because it was too embarrassing. Just imagine a big green swamp.

Finally got a new pump and electrical installed, a CaliMar Variable speed, so much nicer than my old one!

Now begins the process of getting it summer ready. I refilled the water up which helped dilute that nasty water a lot. Started SLAM and put some stabilizer in since it was at zero. Running the filter on high 24/7 cause it’s gotta put in overtime these next couple weeks.

Got a lot of work ahead of me but I know with the TFP method and the Pool Math app it will be a breeze and ready for my family to enjoy in no time

Update your signature with your new pump.
No reason to run it much higher rpm than 2500.

Will do, thanks for the reminder. It’s on 2400 right now. Once everything is all clean I plan on seeing if I can get away with just keeping it on low hopefully, which I think is 1400

I thought I saw you online the other day. Welcome back !!!

Please keep us updated. I've been recommending them left and right for the price. We haven't heard any horror stories yet for 2+ years and hopefully it stays that way. :)

You can likely go even lower with a simple setup.

Pool is getting clearer but still pretty cloudy. I can see more of the stairs each day! Lol

Now that it’s getting less cloudy I saw that there was a big spot of algae on the bottom so I got that all brushed up and skimmed some of the big clumps out. Definitely gonna need to backwash and rinse the filter in the morning. I also stuck the Dolphin in to roam around stirring up the remaining algae in the bottom tonight.

Haven’t updated this in a while because I’ve been super busy with work, sports, and wrapping up the school year. Haven’t had as much time as I need to dedicate to the pool so it remains cloudy. Now that school and sports are done I’m hoping to have it cleared up soon!

One issue I am having is that even with my pump on high, there’s still debris in the pool. Not sure why but it just circles past the skimmer and doesn’t actually go in.

My pool has a good whirlpool effect going on so the water is circulating around, not sure what the issue could be.

Finally starting to seem like it’s under control. Got in to brush and could see the bottom clearly! Still a big spot with dead algae. I adjusted the eye on the return line so hopefully will get better circulation. Weather has been rainy and chilly so not too much pool time missed.

Well I was gone for most of the month of June and the 5 pucks I put in the floater didn’t prevent the pool from going green again. Got it on the right path to clearing up again, it’s just a pain to clear up once it gets cloudy and it takes my dolphin vacuum forever to pick up all the algae on the bottom.

You can’t leave a pool that long without chlorine. Get a SWCG if you’re going to be away for long periods.
