Is quick increase in TA a bad sign?

Hello there everyone.

I have been maintaining my pool through the winter with the TFP method. Everything is going very well. But today, I tested my TA and it had gone up about 20 from my last test which was only three days ago. My TA has generally been 80 and then recently slipped down to 70 but today it was 90. I haven't tested again to confirm, but just wanted to check here to see:

1) Is this any cause for concern?
2) What are potential causes of such an increase?

The only unusual thing that happened is yesterday we had a pest treatment. They were pretty good about steering clear of the pool area, but I am paranoid that something they sprayed may have drifted into the water. Would this affect TA or are there any other concerns about this?

Thanks as always.

I would not worry about it. Could be testing variability. Could be how you handle the reagent and differing drop sizes.

90 is as good as 70. See where it goes in the next few weeks.

Looks to me that your TA is basically around 80 and you are seeing some test tolerances.

Have a look at the notes in the extended test instructions, that might help to minimise testing errors:

Did you add a lot of fresh water after possibly lowering your level for the winter? What is the TA of your fill water?
I haven't lowered the level for winter (I keep the pool open year round). I haven't added much fill water through the winter, just a bit here and there as needed. Haven't checked the TA of the fill water yet, though, I will do that.
