2023 Bleach Prices

I am curious if they are really shipping it or if they’re actually going to have someone deliver it from a store. I have had several things from Walmart delivered from the store recently that were marked as shipping. Ironically, I don’t live in an area where I can actually choose delivery from the store so the 1st couple times this happened I was very surprised. Now my clue is if they say I will get it today or tomorrow because FredEx ain’t that fast 🤣
These certainly were not shipped from a DC with FedEx or UPS. I wasn't home when the jugs were delivered but they were all just sitting on my front porch without any boxes or labeling. I assume it was just a contractor/individual who loaded them into the back of their car from a store like Instacart would be for groceries.

I have two houses now in Arizona, and in the colder area where I don't have a pool I can get pool chemicals at Wal-Mart. Not in Tucson where we don't actually close pools. Off season, and they have to close them at 4500'. Just odd. Probably a better managed Wally as the ones in Tucson are decidedly ghetto.

So I haul gallons of stuff back on every weekend lately. The same tends to go for acid, but substitute in Home Depot for Wally on that one...

I have had to do that because my Universal 40 right now is toast. I have to replace a control board which I have but haven't done yet (lost an element on the LCD), and very likely the cell, which is disappointing as my pool is only 14.5K gal or so, and the cell and control board lasted only 2.5 years. I guess I'll get a new cell for it, but 2.5 years isn't the four promised.... $5.47 a gallon is the price but you can get 2x for $10 something so that is what I have been doing... relatively fresh too...

Having a pool is getting to be prohibitively expensive and it's not being used like everyone promised when I stopped saying no to building it... Sigh...

I have to be honest and say if I had to do it again I would have instead chosen a RJ instead of the Universal too but the Universal being "very similar" to the T-15 Hayward matched the rest of the equipment, so that is why I decided on it. I've had to fix something on all of the Hayward equipment at least once so far too so I should have known....

I have a lot of work to do on the pool in the spring... a day's worth of cleaning and sweeping.. probably new filter cartridges if I can afford them... a new cell for the Universal 40, repair of the innards of the Universal 40, water change to get the CH down from about 700 now... Maybe add a water softener outside inline since I don't want to add in borates to the pool since the dogs drink out of it no matter what I do...My detached hot tub is still disassembled from the element change as I was the only one using it and I have a medical reason currently that I can't use either... I can sure maintain all of it though....

Yes - its a walmart spark driver. Was your bleach fresh?

Julian date was 355 so only a month old. I would still take 6 month old bleach at those prices compared to what else I am seeing at HD and others.
Definitely check with smith pools- not sure how close they are to you but it might be worth the drive. I go to the one in southaven. I haven’t checked their prices since I closed the pool around Halloween but at that time they beat out walmart per gallon & it’s 12%.
They also had the best price on stabilizer at that time beating walmart & amazon.
Haven’t checked with any other of the locally owned pool stores in the memphis area.

For anyone looking to order from Walmart, in lieu of picking it up yourself: be advised that at my local Walmart, they had both really old (I want to say a date code of like 22 17x) bottles with blue lids, and fairly fresh (date code of 22 354) with white lids on the shelf all together. I had to be a "milk maid" and sort through the bottles to find the freshest ones. I generally rely on P-A-P, but I ran out of chlorine and had to run up to Wally World on my lunch break.

Certain markets in the US seem to have a 2-for-$10 bundle of the Pool Essentials liquid chlorine at WM, but not here. Just the singles.

And here's the million dollar question..........how can a local farm and ranch store sell 10% at 4 bucks a gallon when EVERY where else is 7 to 10 bucks a gallon. I know all about lost leader sales items....but ain't nobody gonna lose that much a gallon on a regular basis. Theories?

Because they can.

Check the date codes on bleach/chlorine. If it seems too low cost wise, it could be old stock. I went by an Ace Hardware about a month ago, end of January, to look at their prices for chlorine. The date code was 22223. That is like August 2022. It was probably closer to 5% rather than the 10% on the gallon jug.

Yep checked at our local farm and ranch store where I've always bought 10% bleach in the past and it is $3.99 a gallon this year date code of Feb this year. Still a 100% price increase over 2 year ago.......but still a baargain! Bit the bullet and decided to go SWG this year already though.

Hello, I thought I would share this here in the event it helps others. I was shopping online at Menards for some pool supplies and saw they have 1 gallon of 12.5% liquid chlorine for $4.99/gal. Seems like a fantastic price compared to what I am hearing others are paying. Hope it's helpful :)

Menard's was my go to before I went SWCG. Two years ago, this was 3.99-.5 for effective 3.49....a 27% increase in 2 years. Still best deal around. You are Queen Penny Pincher this year...congrats!

Just visited Walmart and Home Depot (garden shopping) but found these prices for 10% LC in the Katy area of Houston.
Walmart date code was mid-January. They only sell by gallon. HD only sells by 4-gal case. Last summer this was $20 now $36
