This t-profile, round gasket showed up in my pump basket today. I have a guess as to what it is, but I don't want to bias the potential input from others. Can you tell me where this probably came from?

Interesting - that certainly looks like the same part. I'm not aware of any clamp like that in my system though, are you guessing that it's just random debris?

To the best of my knowledge the drain covers and skimmer basket have all been in place and should have caught something that large. I use a robot vacuum which doesn't discharge into the pump.

I guess that's possible. If it's from the pool itself my best guess is that it's from one of the many drain covers.

Glad to know you don't recognize it instantly as something critical either.

Maybe from a pump to pump down the pool during the renovation?

Did they use a big pump with a large suction?

It does not look like a pool part.

@Ahultin nicely done! There's a slot at the bottom of my skimmer that looks very much like the right place for this gasket, including the slot the "T" channel would fit in. There's debris in the gasket track now (see attached photo) so I'll have to clean it up before reinstalling the gasket. Given the purpose of it, I'll operate with the risk that the float-valve will leak around the edges if the water gets that low (which given our forecast for a week of rain, isn't likely soon.)
