Our Jandy Sheer Descent waterfall was replaced twice due to leaks. A pool builder is recommending a Custom Cascade "Sheetfall" by Oreq to replace it rather than trying a 3rd Sheer Descent. Anyone have experience with Custom Cascade water features? Any other suggestions for waterfall manufacturers?

Dj, can you show us the descent and where its leaking? Maybe we'll be able to see where the problem is?
I couldn't find any mention of the Oreq Custom Cascade "sheetfall" in the archives....sorry :(

Thanks Maddie. Here is a picture of our leaking Sheer Descent waterfall. IMG_9846.JPGThe leaks occur at the corners with the glob of adhesive/sealant. These corners looked exactly like this on both of our Sheer Descents.

That "sealant" looks to be epoxy. You can't put a "band-aid" on a pressure leak and expect it to hold, they always fail. Before replacing that sheer, try to get the epoxy off and use PlastAid. Clean the area well, perhaps very light sanding, and dry it. Mix the product to "pancake batter" consistency and pour it onto the area. The solvent in the PlastAid will etch into the plastic body of the sheer and chemically weld to it, very different from just sticking on the surface. Once dry (about 15 minutes depending on the temperature) it is a permanent repair.

You have the leaks exposed with great access. The larger kit (6 oz.) is available on Amazon for about $30.00. Might be worth the try.

1poolman1, thanks for the info! I was not familiar with Plast-Aid and I might give it a try before replacing the Sheer Descent a second time.
I've never tried to repair the Sheer Descents, they came that way new with the white epoxy corners. The 2 Sheer Descents were provided by the pool builder. Maybe he obtained refurbished units? Does anyone know if new Sheer Descents have the white epoxy back corners as shown in the photo?
