Relatively new pool owner here. Have the TF-100 test kit.
We have a 20K gallon fiberglass pool using chlorine as a sanitizer along with Pentair Intellichem and intellicenter setup.
It has an autocover, the pump is running 24/7 at 1800 GPM.
Readings taken by tech are as follows:
FC:0
CC:0.5
CYA:35

Its a vacation home and we skipped visiting last weekend, so its been 2 weeks since anyone swam in it.
Pool is serviced every other week. Today (Wed 9/14) the service tech sent the attached report.
Relevant part is that the auto-feeder ran out of chlorine and because water was a little cloudy, he shocked it.

I will be there by Fri evening, was going to proceed to SLAM it, however I read that Oxy-Brite messes with FAS-DPD tests and registers as CC?
Will that dissipate by the time I'm there?
Unforunately I can't get the compensating re-agent from the Taylor website before I get to the pool on Saturday.

Thank you!
PS: This community is such a lifesaver! Thank you!

So you need your own results when you get there friday. No such animal as CYA 35 so that's why you need your own testing and round up if needed. First post all the levels as you may not need to slam if a OCLT friday night/saturday morning proves otherwise, also you'll need to stay with it long enough should there be a reason to slam.

How much MPS did the pool tech add? When I add 1 pound to my 8000 gallon pool, it registers as 1ppm 24 hours later and 0ppm 24 hours after that.

@DrewLG its unclear.. from the notes it looks like 12 gallons ? But good to know that it dissipates that fast!
Is there a test for MPS in the TF-100 kit?
There is not. To do the MPS test you need Taylor's K-2042 (link in my signature).

I'm unaware of liquid MPS solutions; the stuff is usually a fine dry powder measured by weight, with the usual dosage something like 1 pound per 10,000 gallons of water. Is it possible that the "12 gallons" in the notes was chlorine?

You’re probably right about the gallons referring to chlorine.. I’ve asked him how many lbs of shock, let’s see if he responds.

Unfortunately the only pool shop in the area doesn’t have K-2042 and I can’t get it shipped fast enough :-|
