Good evening yall! My name is Brea and I'm brand new to pool ownership/maintenance. We finished our new build in May 2022 and after the PB started up the pool, I've been maintaining the chemicals on my own. I so wish I had found TFP prior to our build, as we would have most certainly gone with a SWG. Alas, I didn't find it until after our pool was completed. Hoping to convert to a SWG next summer, if not sooner. I've got some questions about my chemical levels, so I'll make a post in the appropriate forum to get feedback on that. Just wanted to introduce myself and share a couple of pics of our pool!

Welcome to TFP.
Based on your CYA of 90 (as shown on your PM logs)
You should have your FC above 7ppm. That is on a consistent basis. Do not use Trichlor tabs as that will increase CYA and cause more issues. Continue to use Liquid Chlorine.

Your CH seems low but wait until you get your TFT test kit to confirm with that drop test.

You are in good hands with TFP - just need to understand that doing your own testing and following the FC/CYA Levels will ensure you have a trouble free pool.

Welcome again!!!!

Thank you! Yes, I did begin with the liquid chlorine last night and added 5ppm. I’ll continue to do this daily until I get my new test kit and figure out the bigger picture!

I’m actually somewhat surprised too, that my CH is low considering we are on well water, but we shall see!

Welcome fellow Texan! Your pool is gorgeous!

You’ll find TFP to be an invaluable resource. Yes, a SWCG will make your life SO much easier. Based on what looks like full sun exposure, you may want to think about a chiller if your water is getting too warm. Our pool would hit 95° by early July and no one wanted to get into the pool anymore. I can now keep water temp in the low 80s all summer long. Due to the extreme drought this year and our ultra low humidity, I actually had to reduce my chiller’s run time because the water was getting too cold.

100°+ all summer - you picked a good year as your first with the pool!
