Am I overthinking this?

So took the old pool down and bought an 18x52 coleman. it had foam underneath but I noticed the foam pieces were not all completely level (from age) so I guess I will have to trash them?
I had somebody put the pool up but noticed as it was filling up that it wasn’t completely level. Had it taken down again.. And then proceeded to get someone to get the ground level.

This is where I’m at.
Question a.. What do I put underneath besides some silly thin cloth. Cool man comes with a round blue tarp. But I don’t feel that’s good enough.

Question b..
I noticed that when people put their pool together there is a bit of an indent so that way when the pool starts to be filled the bottom part is pushed out against the ground indent.
If you notice in the photo one side is completely level with the brick. And the other has a slight indent. Does that matter..

Welcome to TFP! You cold cover the ground with some home insulation panels or Gorilla Pads cut to size. Those are quite popular. As for the indent, as long as the pool itself is level and any supporting posts/pavers are flat I suppose it would be okay. Maybe a fellow AGP owner will provide more thought.

The indent shouldn't be an issue as it should be far enough away from the pool itself that the liner won't touch it at all once it's up. Pavers being level and the ground inside of the paver perimeter being level are the most important.

The ground the pool bottom rests on & the tops of the pavers for the legs need to all be the same elevation & also be level.
If u don’t do this or don’t use pavers for the legs they can sink into the ground as the pool fills with water & cause the pool to become unlevel.
The tarp that comes with the pool is fine to use additional ground cover is a personal choice.

I would definitely trash the foam since it’s old. I bought a gorilla pad for my new AGP. I think it was around $90 for my 18’ x 52” round pool, so same size as yours! It’s getting installed tomorrow so I can give you a better report then lol.

Oh, and this is excellent advice! 👍🏼
