I live in the St. Louis Metro area...Tuesday we received 8+ inches of rain in about a 6+ hour timeframe. Needless to say, I got up about 6:30 am yesterday to a pool overflowing from the hole in the skimmer lid, parts of my backyard with several inches of standing water and the corner of my street (about 3 houses away at the low spot) with about 8 inches of water stretching about a 100 feet. I proceed to wade out to my pool and start to waste water. Got it low enough that it stopped flowing out the lid before stopping to take my wife to work. I have a truck that didn't have a problem getting through the flooded road, her car would have never made it.
Got back home, turn the pump on and head inside as I saw no use standing there in the pouring rain and low and behold forgot about the pump running for about 20 minutes. Got out there in the nick of time and the water was just barely making it in the skimmer.
Needless to say, I am the only dumbass in the STL region filling his pool today via a hose!
We were forecast to get more rain over night and while we got some, it wasn't anywhere near the amount needed to refill said pool.
