Hubby just got back from Lowe's. Muriatic acid is pulled, the brand is bought out by a new supplier, and won't be back on the shelves until August. Thought to give a heads up on this forum. I assume this is store wide.

Just posted this on another thread, Lowe's doesnt carry kemtek in the pool section anymore, but they still have full strength kleen strip MA in the paint aisle. It's right next to the "green", so double check for full strength.

Local big boxes here don’t stock MA in store anymore. Based on what I saw last year, I think one of them had a bad spill (like a pallet of it collapsed or had something fall on it and several bottles split open) and they both now sell it order for delivery only. Local Ace Hardware always seems to have it In stock.

Paint stores have it year round and/or anywhere with a paint aisle like the hardware store if your home center store has supply problems or decides not to sell it.

All this detail is very much appreciated.

My local Home Depot only carries the Klean-Strip Green which is 10-30% strength per the safety label. Elsewhere in this forum it has been posted that it is 20% which does correspond to the pH change I've seen when using it (using PoolMath 31% and adjusting volume by 1.5x). Whether 20% is consistent or if their batches span the 10-30% range I can't say.

It turns out that my local Ace Hardware has a 31% product (Transchem Muriatic Acid) at a better price than the less potent HomeDepot stuff, but it is not always in stock at Ace. In any case I just stocked up on 2 gallons of the "Green" so until it's gone that's what I got...
