Had a garter in the yard past few years I have left alone. Walked into the pool shed last night to turn off the lights and now I have 4 of them. Looks like one must have laid eggs somewhere around the shed.
We’ve had a couple of Texas rat snakes but my wife makes me get rid of them. I catch them and carry them to a nearby park. I keep telling her that they’re good for the yard, but she is adamant - either I get rid of the or she’ll kill them.
If you (or anyone else) really “need” to get them out of an area you there are some effective snake repellents on the market. I use Snake Scram Professional to keep snakes out of my garden…
It is a mid term between letting them be and forcibly moving elsewhere.
Going to let them stay for now. We get a decent amount of field mice around here, maybe theyll help cut down on that a bit. Unless 4 turns into 20 more lol
Every time I go into my sheds I open the door first and peak in. I feel like many things can make their way in there. A couple of weeks ago I was getting the hoses out and there was a giant hornet on the mower. I got it with a shovel. Snakes? I may actually freak out haha.
Wanna have a stroke? This is how you have a stroke. We have a manual open garage door. When my husband pulled it down one evening last summer a 5 foot black snake came down with it on top of him. 6’2” big man screamed like a schoolgirl and I believe May have cried a little. I was inside the house in a bathtub of running water nowhere near the garage and heard him. I flew outside trying to hold a freaking hand towel in front of me in panic. I don’t know why that was my choice of coverup over the bathtowel hanging from the hook right next to me. I never saw that snake but my husband was the color of ivory soap. I would’ve have stroked out of it happened to me.
