I've only been maintaining a pool for two weeks, but am going to be away for 10 days. I've been keeping the FC at 5 per pool math and Ph has been a constant 7.4. The pool will be covered while I'm away. How do I calculate how many tabs to put in the floater while I'm gone that long? The pool is 24,000 gal.

Below are the effects that each dissolved tablet will have in your pool volume. This doesn’t take into account copper which is added to some tabs (often labeled xtra blue or 4 in 1 etc.) So try to get just plain trichlor ones. Once copper goes in it doesn’t leave except through water exchange.
You will have to decide how many your chemistry can withstand. Most floaters only hold 3 or 4 tabs. Most trichlor tablets/pucks are 8oz. Jumbo ones are 10oz.
Most raise fc to slam level for their cya right before leaving along with adding a floater. FC/CYA Levels
Adding a cover can also help with fc loss due to uv.
When I leave for a week I do all these things & my tabs are not fully dissolved when I return.
