Hello,

It appears that Aiper is launching a cordless pool cleaner robot this week through kickstarter. I like the features (Floor only, Walls only, and Bluetooth) and wondering if anyone has opinions on the company?

Cordless … as in Li-ion battery??

Maytronics/Dolphin did something similar years ago but abandoned the technology because it just wasn’t viable. They had a floating battery on a cord that the robot dragged around with it. The cleaning power was markedly diminished due to the need to use low power motors and the battery pack couldn’t supply an adequate charge for more than 60 mins of operation before needing 8+ hours of charging. It was deemed a failure and I don’t think they ever released a product beyond a few beta testers.

I’d be really, really surprised to see a startup company make any headway on a similar product. Battery tech hasn’t gotten any better and there’s just a limit to how much water you need to move to get good cleaning.

Do you have any links?

I’d be interested in a small cordless robot that I could throw in my attached spa to do quick cleans since my robot is too big for it and it’s a pain to use a manual vacuum head.

Hmmm. Looks a lot like the dolphin liberty. Ok, I put an email address in … I might take a bite on an early offer. Hopefully they made it easier to diagnose issue and half as expensive as Dolphin repairs. Maytronics, for all its ingenuity, has terrible customer service and they intentionally design their robots to be very expensive to repair. Maybe that’s just how robotic cleaners are but if Aiper is at least 50% better than Maytronics on customer service, then maybe they’ll succeed.

I can’t join their Facebook group because …. Well …. I don’t use Facebook. Oh well. Maybe if I do get one I’ll start an Aiper Fanboy club here on TFP 😂

I received my Seagull 3000 yesterday. I was so happy with my initial experience using it that I wrote this on the Kickstarter page:

"Oh my God!

I received mine today (Northern California). I charged it up and threw it in my 35k gallon pool this evening. My old Polaris 280 died a month ago, so there were plenty of leaves and sand and dirt at the bottom. I would have been ecstatic if this unit got it cleaned up in four or five runs, since it's such a big pool. My hope was that the 3000 could do that.

MY POOL WAS SPOTLESS AFTER THE FIRST ~2 HOUR CYCLE.

This is the first pool gadget I have ever purchased that exceeded my expectations. I'm so happy."

If this thing can last a few years, I will be even more happy. It's a neat little gadget. I spent some time today using the bluetooth driving mode on my phone, and that works great too. Something for the TFP community to consider if you're in the market!

Please keep us informed on the robot’s performance. If you could specifically keep good track of the charging and battery life that would be awesome. Not to jinx anything but it seems that lots of these battery powered devices have as their Achilles Heel battery life issue. The Aiper robot surly does look nice but the battery power is going to be the most interesting aspect.

Pictures and videos are always welcome 👍

I got mine the other day and it is working great. Time will tell on the battery life but everything else is as advertised so far. I don’t get a ton of debris but it definitely picked up a lot of sand/dirt that I didn’t know was there. Forgot to get pics of the filters but will next time.

Here is a short video I took:

I got mine Memorial Day weekend as well. This is my first pool and bot so don't have reference points. I actually think this thread and subsequent digging around convinced me to get one. This and the price on KS was appealing. I've run 2x so far and impressed with the cleaning and simplicity. I do have a small pool though (30x14.) Power seems strong even without an electric source. I didn't put a stopwatch on the battery life but would guess runtime was 2-3 hours and charge time was about 6? I can check these next time I run it. When the battery is almost out it parks by a wall. I used the app and BT connection to drive it up the wall to retrieve with little effort. So far I'm happy but time will tell as far as durability.

I've had mine since Memorial Day and I'm replacing the Polaris 28X. I have a small pool (20 x10) and this robot is amazing. Picks up everything. Runs off the app (although you can't get battery power readings unless the battery is turned on). However, we've searching for a granddaughters tiny earring for a week. The Aiper 3000 found it and we found it in the basket. The Polaris did not find it. At this point, highly recommended!IMG_5574.jpeg

Runtime today: 2 hours. Recharge time: couldn't check timely but at 4 hours it was not done and finally got back to it after 8 hours and it was done. Wish these times were inverted, someday perhaps. In any case pool is back to spotless. Happy with it so far.
