Does anyone know if Jandy Aquapure still tries to generate chlorine if the service light is on?

Hi, our Jandy Aquapure is throwing an error code 121 (low current in reverse direction). I don't have time to replace the cell right now (I'm still using the old square ones and I need to do some pretty significant re-plumbing to switch to the new style) so I was wondering if it still tries to generate chlorine in the forward direction even if the service light is on and throwing code 121 or if it basically stops completely until the service light is cleared. The "Cell on" light does go on though but my chlorine level is quite low (which is to be expected if it's only generating chlorine 1/2 the time since I haven't increased the output yet)

Let us know. Thanks,
Mike

Usually that code means the center electrode is gone so no power gets to the cell anyway. But there may still be a bit of connectivity. If you determine it is still producing a little chlorine please post back. I suggest daily chlorine testing to see.

I am having a similar problem with my almost 7 year old PLC1400 - We reversed the 3 prong power cord and the code switched from 121 to 120.

We added a tiny bit of extra salt (I had a little left over) to bump up my salt ppm numbers a bit - and I am planning to do a quick acid cleaning of the cell next. I have an extra power cord I will also try.

Last week we did a tear down of our filter and pulled the 1400 off and cleaned it with a chop stick to break up some of the small bit of scale that was on the pins and center plate edge. Once it got re-assembled it started throwing the 121 code.

Ours is still bubbling away much of the time - but our chlorine level dropped below min and the pool got a tiny bit soft before I noticed the problem mid week - we added some liquid chlorine to bring it up to SLAM levels for a day and it is now TFP clear and passed a OCLT...I am waiting for the FC to drop back down.

I just need to figure out if I can run it at twice my normal % rate, how long that might last, and if I am going to have to buy a new unit....uggggh
