I am having a 750 rectangular pool (10 x 40 x 4 ave) built in the Tampa area, and am deciding between tropic blue and midnight blue. The builder quoted $10,000 additional cost to switch from a standard finish to midnight blue. That seems crazy high. I already signed the contract. is that number on or off base and how much more SHOULD I be charged?

We upgraded to Zanzibar mini pebble and it was only $1400 extra-our pool is 32 x 18 rectangle
How do you like the Zanzibar mini pebble? We selected it as well because we thought it would be white plaster with white, light gray and crystal mini pebbles but our result is not good. A ton of black and it just looks dirty. Would be curious how yours turned out and if you have any photos you would share?

When you say "standard", are you talking about a standard pebble finish or a standard plaster and want to upgrade to pebble? I ask because Midnight Blue is a standard pebble. It was my first pick in my specs from the base tier selections. I ended up going with an upgrade to another base tier of Tahoe Blue (Midnight too dark) by adding glass beads and abalone, which I did not pay for, as the PB threw it in later over a mix-up.

Interesting that you were able to get Zanzibar, when it came time to finalizing everything I was told that they had discontinued Zanzibar and I even called NPT and this was indeed the case. I did go with the white mini pepple from Stonescapes and did NOT like all the black pebble that is in there but honestly I don’t think it looks dirty at all. Ultimately the water color turned out fine I would have loved for it to have a little more teal to it like it did the 1st day it was filled as I thought the color was perfect and it was pretty clear even on day 1. Here is what the final result look likes and a closeup of my tanning ledge. Do you have pics-I would love to see them
