Hello TFP!

I just found this forum yesterday and I’ve already learned so much, this is a great resource for anyone with a pool.

My wife and I just had our pool finished 4 days ago with NPT Quartzscapes in the curacao night color. We understand that with dark plaster like this we can expect color variations and issues. Our issue is that our PB did not perform an acid wash before filling the pool or spa. They applied the plaster on Tuesday afternoon and immediately after they got done troweling they laid a hose in it to start filling. We are happy with the color and understand that some of the splotchiness will go away with time and we are working on brushing a lot to get rid of the dust. Right now we see no aggregate what so ever, we are wondering what can be done at this point to expose the aggregate since an acid wash was not completed before filling. I’ve also read that acid washing / doing an acid bath can cause it’s own issues. So we would like some opinions on if we should be happy with it how it is (with no aggregate) or if we should be trying to expose some aggregate. It’s my understanding that exposing the aggregate will help with the lines we are seeing in the spa as shown in the photos below. Thank you all for your help!

Welcome to TFP.

Nothing you do with water chemistry or brushing will expose any aggregate or change the look.

That is what your PB delivered and it looks okay. Trying to tinker with it can just open a can of worms.
