what chlorine/bleach is everyone using? (assuming cloromax is still a no-no)

Hey all. Going to be opening up the pool this weekend and I'm just getting to thinking. Since Clorox started going with cloromax, has anything changed since last season about not using that? What is everyone using? I guess if worse comes to worse, I'll get pool essentials chlorinating liquid from HD. It was just so convenient going to Costco and grabbing a 3 pack of Clorox at a time from there... I feel like covid really did a number on my memory and I hope I can remember everything I've learned about maintaining my 6 yr old pool.... thank you

I've been getting Pool Essentials 10% from either WalMart or Ollies. But I see Home Depot has their HDX for cheaper so I may try to get some of that.

Cloromax is definitely a no - unless u want a mess.
Also no splashless or scented.
Most store brands of household bleach now seem to have something for fabric conditioning in them too.
Walmart pool essentials is the cheapest around here. The same stuff at lowes is $1 more a gallon 😩 every gallon I have seen lately was a year old.
I luckily have a mom & pop place that does the 2.5 gallon refillable jugs - its 11-12% & beats out Walmart pool bleach per gallon. Also its always fresh.

Thank you guys. I picked up a 4 pack of pool essentials from HD for opening. I still can't believe Clorox went to Cloromax for their one and only bleach. They should have done some and give the option for people that don't want cloromax. Maybe one day it'll come back...

Never forget that Clorox Pool and Clorox are different companies. I wouldn’t rule out some sort of non-compete agreement as reason to go Cloromax on all Clorox Bleach.

I use the chlorine from the pool store. It's always fresh, comes in a case of 3, $15 a case,, and always has it in stock, even in the winter! Our Wally World is always sold out and, when you can get it, is out of date by 6 mos to 2 yrs. bLowes is no different, grocery store stock is iffy, Home Depot stores their chlorine in the heat and sun. For me, the pool store is the way to go.

(Not mentioning their name, don't wanna give them free advertising.)
