Built my pool about 3 years ago and thinking about upgrading the lights. Mine just has a normal light (cheaper one). My question is can you just replace the fixture and not have to pull different wire and also is the LED light that switches colors even worth he money? Thanks

If you currently have a standard 120V halogen light, you can definitely open up the light housing and switch to an LED style bulb. That would be the cheapest and simplest option. Just be sure to do a careful job in sealing the lens back up so there’s no water leaks.

I’m am hugely disappointed in almost all LED tech that’s on the market except for interior lighting. Even Pentair’s IntelliBright product, it’s flagship LED light, is garbage in my opinion. They burn out way too quickly for what they cost and it’s almost always the electronic driver board that dies because the thermal management of the electronics is cheap and sub-standard. You’d think for nearly a $1,000 you’d get a product that lasts, but it’s more likely to fail out of warranty.

Personally, all the color changing stuff you would do would probably be like us, one time through all the colors and themes and then say "huh, that was nice". Then, it's always on basic white. I was miffed that out of the colors, the one color I could use, yellow bug light, was not on the list.
