Maytronics Proteus DX3 part

Hi, I have a problem with a track coming off consistently on my DX3. I decided to take apart the wheel assemblies to see if anything was worn.

When taking out the back wheels I found this stainless steel part Inside the assembly on one side, but not on the other, which I am assuming is part of the problem.

So I have two questions. Does anyone know if these are supposed to be on both sides, and if so anyone know what the part is called or even better a part number so I can order?
