I am running my first Taylor test. My pool is 16.000 gallons. The pH test is below 7 (acidic). I am adding 25 drops of R-0006 to get close to the color expected for good pH. I need to add soda wash. Calculation shows that i should add 12 pound of soda wash. It seems to be a lot. What do you suggest ?

Is the pump on and circulating? Sometimes the reading are off if not.. also make sure the water is warmed to about 70 degrees before the tests as sometimes that can mess with them..

For information :
FC AND CC : 0
TA: 55
CH: 30
CYA: to low to measure.
WATER TEMPERATURE: 42 (but i took the water yesterday in the pool to run the test at room temperature)

Water temperature is much lower. Last year i opened it one week later and the water was full of ammonia. I have decided to not wait too long to open it this year as last year it took me 2 weeks to bring it back to where it should be with tons of chlorine due to the ammonia. Ammonia test so far is 0..

TA of 55 is not a normal result. How are you testing?
It should be 50. The extra drop to 60 makes the color clearly red so i put 55.

Then it is 60.

If you have mixed the water really well, which means running the pump for 24 hours and brushing the pool, then the pH cannot be below 7 if you have a TA of 60.

At a water temperature of 42F, there is no threat of algae. So you can add some liquid chlorine if you like with the pump running, but I would not add over 5 ppm FC.

If you add chlorine, test after about 30 minutes to see what FC you have.
