Okay, please forgive me if this is a silly question, but I cannot find a clear answer online. We have had our in-ground, gunite pool for a little over 20 years. Last year, we hired a national pool construction company to resurface the gunite on our pool. Originally, the plaster surrounding the eyeball jets was flat and smooth, but now, each eyeball jet is set inside a concave indentation in the gunite. The plaster around each eyeball jet does feel solid to the touch (not mushy) and there don't appear to be any cracks, but I just want to be sure this is okay. I know, for a fact, that the original pool design had flat, smooth plaster surrounding these jets. Is this merely a design difference? If it seems weird that I'm only bringing this up now, it's because we have noticed another problem (possibly significant) with the construction and I have been looking at my pool more closely.
