Hi all. I purchased a home in the Palm Springs area with the 15,000 gallon chlorinated pool last March. We’ve got a Jandy pump, Pentair heater, and I’m using iAqualink to control everything from a far!

First question to the group… when I first tested the heater this season I was able to take the pool temp from the low 70s to mid 80s in less than two hours. Outside temp was in the 90s.

A day later (and after making some remote adjustments with the iAqualink for scheduling and pump speeds) I can’t seem to get the pool heat up to 90 in less than five hours and can’t seem to maintain it when the outdoor temp starts to go down in the afternoon.

I know there are a lot of variables at work here … but I just found these RS485 errors. Does this mean I just have a loose connection somewhere?

Thanks for any insight.

You will get errors when the Aqualink system is configured to run the pump(s) but the pump doesn’t respond back to the Aqualink system.

This could be a RS-485 intermittent issue or it could mean that the pump(s) don’t have an AC power going to them. You don’t have the AC power switched on those pump motors by any chance? VS pumps should not be wired through relays but rather should be directly connect to their respective breakers.

In any case you will need to have the filter/pump running while you are trying to heat the pool unless you have the system set up I’m temperature maintain mode. Make sure the filter/pump is enabled in your schedule for the duration that you are trying to run your heater.

You might want to post a screen shot of your Aqualink’s schedule page, and also the variable speed setup page.

I hope this helps.
