Hayward ecostar on generator

Note that the drive is what needs the correct power.

You can't go by the motor label.

The motor is a 3 phase motor that gets power from the drive.

The drive converts 230 volt single phase 60 hz to 3 phase and a frequency that determines the RPM.

In my opinion, there is no way that the EcoStar was originally connected by a 120 volt plug.

Even if the motor was replaced, they are not going to go from 230 volts to 115 volts.

It’s a Hayward eco star variable speed. The display goes blank when plugged into the generator but the buttons are lit up.
They are saying that it is an EcoStar.

If the motor and drive were replaced with a non-EcoStar motor and drive, it seems like they would have included that information as that is what is relevant.

It was originally hardwired. We had a massive ice storm this winter where I had to break up ice and make a tent around the plumbing/filter. We were very fortunate the power didn’t go out.

I have the pump plugged in with a locking plug now as to make it easy to setup if we ever need to use the generator. The plug is 110 volts. I will show pics this evening.

Every reference that I can find for the EcoStar says 230 volts.

Show any reference that says that it can take 120 volts.

Is the motor original?

How old is the pump?

What is the model number for the pump?

Who changed the wiring?

I really do not think that it is 120.

Did you actually measure the voltage line to line?

Can you show the breaker?

The motor is original. Pump is about 2 years old. My dad rigged this up in hopes of being able to unplug it and hook it up to the generator if needed. It’s worked fine plugged into the outlet.

Press the Menu button until "Diagnostic Menu" appears.
Then press the right arrow one time, then press the minus button once.
The bottom center number is the voltage reading that the pump is measuring. See what that shows.

Thanks for everyone’s help. Here is the plug which says 125 volts and the menu which says 244 volts. The right breaker goes to the pump.
