My pool is almost complete, and we are finally getting to the point where we can start planning what we will be planting in our planter that runs along the back side of our pool. It is about 15ft long and 2-3ft wide, with a small rock waterfall breaking it up in the middle. What are y’all planting near your pools? We’d like to get a palm tree or 2 in there but not sure what’s the best option for trees that don’t get too large too fast. Would love to hear some suggestions! Here is a pic of the planter. Also, for reference we live in Florida.

Assuming yes.
What about like a ground-cover / ivy that doesn't have deep roots to fill in, but to get some height - halfway bury some potted plants or shrubs, so that there is a layer of containment keeping the roots from causing future damage?

I thought about planting some Christmas palms in some concrete planters and burying them just to make them stay smaller longer. Side benefit is the planter would stop root growth from impacting pool shell, in theory anyways…
 
Something I forgot about.. Did they waterproof the backside of the pool.. If you are watering the backside and it is not waterproofed it can get behind your tile line and start to pop tiles off.. We had another member here have that happen..

I was gonna suggest some elephant ears that we have next to ours. No big root systems to worry about. I can show you what happens if you plant big trees too close though. I’d keep any tree 10 ft away unless it was a dwarf variety and didn’t have aggressive root system.BA6A25E4-A1E2-4542-B184-D6A709B35C2E.jpeg
