Hello everyone,
I’m a new pool owner and a little overwhelmed with what to do next.
The levels are off from the recommended values. The previous owner said he was only using the chlorine pucks and never had to use acid or other chemicals anytime in the last few years.. maybe decades. He built the pool almost 20 years ago. So far I am continuing to use the pucks.
The pool looks good visually, and doesn’t irritate skin or anything while swimming. Doesn’t smell too strong of chlorine when you get out either.
Here are my levels taken with the TF100 test kit. I could have made a mistake, but I’m fairly confident using these test kits, I used to have salt water coral reef tanks and got very familiar with drop style kits.

welcome to TFP
pucks are acidic which is why original owner did not need acid
pucks add equal amounts cya and chlorine
the chlorine is used to sanitise your pool and the cya builds up
suggest doing a diluted cya test to see the real number
using the fc/cya chart you can see you are miles under for fc and heading for a green monster
unfortunately the only practical way to remove cya is to drain some of your water and fill fresh
how much depends on the real cya number
hint use google earth history function and see how often original owner had green pool
the people i bought from said they had never had a green pool, but nearly every year on google earth it showed green
