How often do most of you add Muriatic Acid?

In year 6 of gunite pool. 30,000 gallons. I have been testing more this year and have been adding 1.5 pints a week to get the PH to 7.4. It is a little high at 7.8 or so. Other years, I have not had to add so much and I have a high CYA issue i'm dealing with. When my returns point up and cause ripples as my wife enjoys the calming effect, this seems to raise PH more than running solar recirc mode.

I add about 2cups every 3 days on season 2 with my 28k gallon pool. My TA is currently around 80-90 so I may try lowering that more and see how it does.

In my 2 years of pool ownership, I have had to put in 2.5 gallons total by waiting until it get 8.0 before I knock it down to ~7.5. A few days later it is up to 7.8, but stays there for weeks.

If I were knocking it down every time it hit 7.8 I would be adding every few days and would have used way more MA.
