Good morning all,
Super cloudy day here in Nj today so I’m going over the pool to see if anything needs attending too since the kiddos won’t be out splashing today. My copings were lifted and reset about a month or so ago and I noticed some really tiny hair line cracks in only a few joints. Is this something I should tackle now? Tooth pick point for size reference.

Typical shrinkage cracks from mortar and plaster drying. I would put a skim coat of mortar on top of it to seal the cracks and keep water from getting into the cracks in the winter and getting any freeze damage.

If you’re getting a cover I would think that it will cover your cracks and prevent water from getting into them.

I haven’t put my cover on for several years now. We don’t have any trees in our yard. Here’s a pic of it in March after winter. I usually start it up the end of March. Don’t mind the Gazebo that this past winters storm broke down. 😑

You don’t close your pool in Jersey. That’s impressive. Do you leave you pump running 24/7?

As far as the hairline crack goes, take into consideration that you won’t be able to match the existing concrete color. It’s either all or none. Otherwise you will have different shades of gray.

Indeed I close her up for the winter. I usually shut it down in November. In the pic you can probably see the black plugs in my two returns. I usually drain below those two returns to blow lines out with my shop Vac then cap them. The water level usually rises to where you see on the pic between rain and snow melts during off season so I end up doing a small top off of water.
