My pool has stairs that come out to the side to form an L shape. Is it worth buying a wider blanket and cutting it, or should I just get one the size of the main part of the pool and leave the stairs uncovered? Does it make much of a difference as far as heat retention and evaporation goes? I would think not, but maybe I’m overlooking something.

How do you plan on taking the cover on and off? Using a reel or by hand?

I’d look at the following options dependent on cost-
1. Two rectangular covers. One going from the stair area to the opposing edge, and the other covering the other half. (This would be the easiest to manage if you’re doing it by hand)
2. A blanket to cover all but the stair area. Then, get the smallest / scrap blanket you can find and cut a square just for the stair area as a separate piece.
3. A large, single blanket cut to fit. I’d only do this if you were using a reel and the extra large blanket isn’t stupid expensive.
4. Leave the stairs uncovered (least preferable to me).
