So I have a "pop up" style abg pool. I am considering getting a more long term solution though and came across what I guess is a decent deal on facebook marketplace. $1,000 asking for a 24' x 52" round metal wall pool. It includes the slide. I assume it would need a new liner. I asked if there were any spots that were rusted and he provided additional pictures of the two spots that are rusted. I do not know how big of an ordeal the rusted spots are, and/or if this is indeed a good deal.

Oooof. This is a toughie. It’s a fair price for the pool, equipment, slide and steps, but you’ll need a deck to use the slide at the right height, and you’ll be investing a considerable amount of time, effort and money into a question mark with the rust. Sure you can clean / reinforce and treat those areas, but those solutions are never permanent and only delay the inevitable.

Hang tight for more thoughts, I’m just as interested to see them.

agree with Newdude. going to be some work and that rust is iffy. I would turn it down in normal times, but might be worth trying to fix it with the way prices for new are now. who knows when the silly market is going to finally get saturated and prices will come down?

You are definitely going to need a new liner and those are not readily available in many places.

The location of that rust is of big concern. That is likely to be one of the place with most pressure against the wall. You would have to carefully inspect it to see how deep the rust is. It may or may not be possible to do some repair and extend the life of that wall a bit. Keep in mind a wall failure is something nasty.

In my opinion the calculation comes down to see if the equipment alone would worth the asking price or not.

I sold one last year and it didn't look too bad. Not much rust visible. Then, when we were taking it down, the entire bottom ring was totally rusted. I wouldn't offer more than $400-$500. How old is the pool?
