Utah man tells family they'll never be getting a pool....

9 weeks is pretty dam good.
My neighbor's pool started in December, dug in early January, was supposed to be plastered two weeks ago but still waiting. Yeah, nine weeks is good.

BTW to the OP, your very first sentence was correct and still valid.

LOVE your pool!! And the separate spa, that's not something you see every day. These look awesome. I am wanting to do a similar type of layout with my build (planning now) Owner Builder and DIY Space Coast, FL

Sorry about your back yard, but I'm sure your family will have lots of great memories with this pool and spa!

Beee-ooot-teee-full....

What is that sticking up at the edge of the spa? Is that a pipe stub or a umbrella holder?
That is a pressure regulator for the spa. I guess we can turn up or down the pressure from the coping with a switch.

To be fair the dig began on 3/17. Closer to 12 weeks. My builder has been amazing though in terms of being resourceful sourcing materials and just plain busting his rear end. If anyone ever needs a PB in Utah, this guy is amazing. With that said I'm not out of the water yet... or more appropriately in the water. Equipment came yesterday, pad isn't poured and nothing is hooked up yet.... o_O

Thanks for the kind words. I've looked at your inspiration photos. Here's a link to what inspired my wife. She's the art and brains in the relationship by far.

That inspiration yard looks wonderful. Your wife has good taste! You all did an incredible job of replicating the look of that pool. Did you end up using the same Stepstone coping mentioned in the article?
In a word. No. We have gotten used to getting the material that we can get when we can get it. I'm sure that would have taken a year and cost me 30k. Instead we got something called Artisanal Series precast coping from NPT tile. We chose the Ivory hand rubbed modern cut. It was a 4 week process, and I think it looks great. Page 73 of this NPT catalogue. NPTHardscapes_Brochure Ended up adding 4k to the price versus a standard concrete coping.

You are going to discover that Mytee Mitts are your new pool relaxation tools. White tile...will show any and all scum on the water line. Just slip that glove or two on and walk around the pool washing the water line down with the mittens and pool water.

Sold on Amazon and many <gulp> pool stores.

Congrats on the pretty new pool!

I love the separate pool and spa. That is a neat concept that I don't remember seeing before this build. The whole thing looks fantastic!

Your pool looks awesome! Btw I said the same thing about getting a pool then in 2017 I caved in. Fast forward and we decided to build a new house on some land and we are now doing the second pool I said we would never get. Yes they are expensive and take maintenance but the fun with family and friends is worth it!
