I'll move this post to the Above Ground Pools sub-forum and hopefully you'll get some good replies there. In a nut shell, you need the ground level and liner protected from anything sharp in the ground. You'll also want paver supports for the legs. There are many, many AGP install threads in that sub-forum.

Yes, do a read-thru of some of the install threads. Hardest part is leveling the ground. Remove sod and scrape the whole area done to the lowest point. Do not try to build up low areas.
