I have been helping my new neighbor with his pool. He has no previous experience, so I felt bad. One thing that I noticed is that he has a bunch of flexible lines, and they all seem to be leaking. I thought it might be nice to help him convert to PVC. I don’t have much experience with above ground pools, but I assume the pipe connections are similar to inground. At the very least, I would like to replace the line from the pump outlet to the filter inlet. The pump connection seems to be on an angle (not straight). The pump is a Pentair Optiflo OPT-NI-1VD, and the filter is a Hayward E-series.
My thought is that I should use a union at the pump and possibly the filter too, but I wanted to see if could get some guidance for the parts that I would need and if they’re all available at Lowe’s/Home Depot or Amazon. I have 1.5” PVC, teflon tape, thread sealant, a pipe cutter, wrenches, etc. I’m not 100% clear on the fittings and what is needed for the pump outlet, so any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated.
Also, are there any good tips for leveling the equipment? I noticed that the filter is leaning forward and the pump is also leaning. They are just placed on some pavers/blocks, and the pump is not even secured in any way.
