Question about air valves

Good morning,
Just had our pool remodeled during which they laid tile over the existing surface. The spa has two holes where there is pvc pipe about 3/4” diameter which is now about two inches below the surface. I am new to spas but I am told that is to regulate air to allow for more bubbles/etc. I have attached a picture of the old nozzle and also of the hole in the tile showing one of the pipes. How do you install these things. I see them on amazon but can’t find any directions. Do I need to mate new pvc to old and do the valves have to go inside the pipe? Thx in advance for any help.

They should just screw it. However, if the replacement tile is thicker than it was before, that may not be possible.
