6-Way Valve connection

I am looking to extend the life of my 6-way valve. The port has cracked. I was hoping to add an external fitting to shade from the sun and stabilize the connection. Does anyone know what the connection size is? It is the external thread that I want to know. aaa.jpgbbb.jpg

It may be an illusion, but those outside grooves don't look like threads to me. They just look like grooves. If you put the tip of a pencil in one and trace it around...does it stay in the same groove or work to the next one.

If that is the case...you might be able to stop the leak with some hose clamps around the outside.

That takes a union thread. Below is the correct union kit.

It might be a 2" pipe thread. You can try a 2" fitting, but I don't know if it will work.

If a 2" Female threaded adaptor is the right thread, I would glue it on so that it locks everything in place.

Note that our standard advice for any cracked equipment that will be under pressure is to replace it and not attempt a repair.

Pressurized equipment can rupture and explode, which can be very dangerous as shrapnel can be ejected at high speed.

Those connections are for Pentair bulkhead fittings that were available for that valve if they are truly threads. As was mentioned, a hose clamp MAY help slow down the leak, but the only real cure is a new valve. Even if you can get the bulkhead fittings, the crack is behind the sealing area and will keep leaking. The crack will continue and there is no reliable way to repair one of these valves. If it fails suddenly with the pump running you will lose a large amount of water very quickly.

If you remove the barbed fitting and glue on a threaded fitting, you can probably prevent the crack from spreading to the body of the valve.

In any case, I would recommend replacing the valve.

Cracked equipment under pressure can rupture and create a dangerous hazard.
